What became known Air-1 Inc. was started by myself and two other college friends, Andy and Jason Bentley after college graduation in 2000. We moved down to Charleston South Carolina shortly thereafter not so much for potential sales, but mainly for the laid back scene, the beach, and the incredible girl to guy ratio. It was a no brainer for three single guys just out of college. At that time we were still operating under two different business names, Kirby Kicks Int'l and Freebird Enterprises. We were having a blast, but eventually realized that we needed to put a little more emphasis on the business itself, and Charleston unfortunately was not very conducive to the work ethic needed.

We packed up and headed back to Charlotte N.C. in the summer of '02 and merged our companies together in the spring of '03 with the idea of being the largest wholesale distributor around, and under the new name Air-1 Inc.

In the fall of '07, after nearly 7 years of partnership I bought the Bentley brothers out and they pursued carrers in real estate. Its been quite a transition but things are smoothing out and going well. I would personally like to thank all of the devoted buyers who have remained loyal to us over the years no matter the circumstances. I really appreciate it and look forward to working with everyone in the future.
